Animal Control

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the City of Primera Animal Control to protect public health and welfare while enforcing humane animal treatment while operating within City of Primera ordinances and county, state and federal regulations. It is also our mission to provide safe, humane shelter for unwanted, stray, abused and impounded animals and to educate the public about responsible animal care, pet ownership and living with wildlife in hopes of reducing the number of unwanted animals in the community.

Enforcement

The largest part of Animal Control Officers' job is enforcement. The City of Primera has a number of ordinances pertaining to animals. Ordinances address dogs and cats running at large, transporting animals in open bed trucks, unreasonably noisy animals and dangerous animals. Animal Services enforces city ordinances as well as county, state, and federal animal-related regulations.
